MTC combines the quality of a full musical theater program with the fun and excitement of Mountain Mist Day Camp in the great outdoors!

MTC is a full day summer camp program that costs just $45 a day for YMCA members.
Please visit the Meriden YMCA website to learn about the registration and medical forms required to attend. All paperwork and medical forms must be submitted to the YMCA the Friday before a camp session begins.
Our Program
MTC (Musical Theater Camp) is MYT’s summer program located at Mountain Mist Day Camp (576 High Hill Rd, Meriden), where we put on a show in just two weeks! We rehearse and perform outdoors under the big MYTent - there is nothing like it!
5 productions. 3 shows. 1 awesome summer.
Due to higher enrollment numbers we are expanding to offer 2 Rising Star sessions. Both sessions will produce the same 30 minute musical, so sign up for the session that fits your summer schedule best!
We are also separating the Junior Program into 2 age ranges: Completed grades 4*-5 and 6-7. Both sessions will produce the same 60 minute musical. 4th graders must have participated in a 2023 MYT production to participate. First time MYT 4th graders must instead register for one of the Rising Star productions.

Register for MTC
To register for Mountain Mist Day Camp, you must be a Y Member (Full time or program membership required.). Register now through audition day on the phone (203) 235.6386 or at the Downtown Meriden Y (110 W Main).
All campers must be registered before auditioning.
New MYT members must complete this contact/information form after registering with the YMCA.
Auditions
NEW this year: Auditions will be held in person at the MYT Rehearsal Hall (14-16 W Main) the Saturday before a the session begins.
If you cannot attend auditions, a video audition is due before audition day 9 AM in order to be considered for a role. Videos must be uploaded to Google Drive and the public link emailed to myt@meridenymca.org.
Audition materials will be sent out to those who have registered. Materials will be sent no later than 1 week before auditions.
Rehearsals
During the camp day (9 AM-3PM), MTC will rehearse under the MYTent, Lower Pavilion, MTC Lounge, and may even bus down to the MYT Rehearsal Hall. We will also enjoy camp activities like swimming. Breakfast and hot lunch is provided FREE for all campers. Junior and Teen Companies have evening dress rehearsals ahead of performances.
Performances
Performances will be held outdoors under the MYTent. Tickets may be purchased online (discounted) or at the door. Seating is general admission and "bring your own" lawn chair.

Finding Nemo KIDS
RISING STARS - Group A - June 24-July 5
Completed grades 1-4
When calling or visiting the Y to register, be sure to sign up for the correct session. The front desk should sign you up for "MTC RSA 1-4 W2 W3". YMCA members may also register online: meridenymca.org.
Session Details
Musical theatre camp performers will learn basic musical theater dance, acting and music skills. Emphasis during this camp will be on the importance of punctuality, teamwork, memorization, confidence building, and fun! MTC mornings are filled with singing and dancing, while afternoons are all about traditional camp activities such as swimming and show themed arts and craft projects led by the MTC counselors in training! A 30 minute musical will be performed.

What is the difference between Group A and B? Only the dates are difference. They are the same experience and same show title. Pick the session that fits your schedule best!
Can you sign up for both Group A and Group B? No, students may only sign up for one Rising Star session.

MTC CIT Program
Active MYT students entering grades 9-12 can apply here to be an MTC Counselor in Training. Selected CITs will assist the MTC staff in choreographing, planning, and producing the show. Space is limited and unfortunately we cannot admit every applicant. Selected CITs do NOT register for the Rising Star session via the Y.

We are new to MYT but just completed 4th grade, can we participate in the Junior Company? No, new MYT members who have completed 4th grade should register for the Rising Stars instead.
Can my 4th grader participate in both the Junior Company and Rising Stars? 4th graders who were in MYT Fall 2023 or Spring 2024 may sign up for Junior Company and Rising Stars Group B.

Session Details
Musical theatre camp (MTC) performers will learn advanced musical theatre dance, acting and music skills. Emphasis during this camp session will be on the importance of character development, challenging choreography, and mutli-part vocal singing. The group will rehearse in the morning and afternoon, with swimming on hot days.

A True "Summer Theater Camp"
Don't spend your summer in an auditorium - kids already spend enough time in school! MTC rehearses in the fresh air and puts the 'summer' and 'camp' back in "Summer Theater Camp." We rehearse each morning under the shade of the MYTent. Between rehearsals, campers get to take part in camp activities, swim in the pool, play on the courts, and even use the water slide!
The MTC Staff
MTC is run by a mix of educators and MYT alumni who love to share their passion for theater with others. The MTC Staff has been working together at camp for over ten years and loves to see how each summer season continues to raise the bar. As educators first and theater directors second, we cater to children individually and help them develop their skills in small group and whole group settings.
