About the Cabaret
What is the Cabaret? In short, it's the best night of the year!
The cabaret is MYT's one and only fun-draiser. Students rehearse on Saturdays in April, May, and June to put together a 30 minute "showcase" that centers around our theme! Rehearsals start in April and run from 9-noon.
On Saturday, June 15th, family and friends will gather for the biggest party of the year at Mountain Mist. The event includes dinner, raffles, a silent auction, the MYT showcase, and a dance party. It's a celebration of music and family for everyone!
Online registration will begin in March
The cabaret showcase is open to all students in grades 1-12. New members welcome! The registration fee will cover the performer t-shirt and music.
Tickets for the event will go on sale in May. More details TBA.
MYT students will also have the opportunity to perform "Cabaret" style during dinner.
More information will be coming soon!
Family fun for the whole family!
When was the last time your entire family enjoyed an evening out together? After dinner and the performances, it's time to celebrate what MYT is all about: family. With raffles and a dance floor of fun, this is family fun the entire family enjoys together!
What are we raising money for?
The costs of show royalties (rights or permission to perform the show), sets, costumes, and props add up quickly. Did you know it will cost MYT over $6,000 to purchase the rights to perform 3 shows this summer? While tickets and ad sales help offset these expenses, the money raised at the cabaret provides us with the funds to purchase equipment to produce professional productions.
It was only a few years ago we had 10 campers, danced on the cement floor, and stapled backdrops to the wall. Thanks to funds we have raised at our Cabarets, we now offer a full auditorium experience outdoors - complete with risers, stage curtains, digital LED lighting, and 24 wireless microphones!
Participation in Meriden Youth Theatre programs has doubled - and this is just the beginning.
We are raising money this year to have a dedicated performing arts pavilion at camp to perform in during the summer and use as a rehearsal space during the school year.
